Today’s Blessings – August 20, 2025 | Day 232 of 365

“When Fear Rises, God’s Love Remains”

Scripture of the Day:
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” – 1 John 4:18 (NIV)

Fear Is a Common Struggle

Fear comes in many forms. Some of us fear the future, some fear failure, and others fear rejection or loss. The enemy thrives on using fear to hold us back, to keep us from stepping into the fullness of God’s calling.

Fear whispers that we are not enough, that we won’t make it, that things will fall apart.

But fear is not from God. Scripture tells us clearly: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). If fear is not from Him, then we can be confident that He has given us the tools to overcome it.

God’s Love Is the Antidote to Fear

1 John 4:18 teaches us something powerful—God’s love drives out fear. Why? Because when we rest in His perfect love, we are reminded that we are secure in Him. His love assures us that He is with us, that we are not alone, and that nothing can separate us from His care.

God’s love reminds us of His promises:

He will never leave us (Deuteronomy 31:6).

He has good plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11).

He works all things for our good (Romans 8:28).

When we truly believe this, fear loses its grip.

Walking Boldly in Faith

Overcoming fear isn’t about pretending it doesn’t exist—it’s about choosing to trust God’s love more than the fear itself. Every time fear rises, you can declare God’s truth: “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid” (Psalm 118:6).

Let today be a reminder that God’s love is greater than any fear you may face. His perfect love covers your weaknesses, your doubts, and your uncertainties. You can step forward in faith knowing that He goes before you.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your perfect love that casts out all fear.

When fear rises in my heart, help me to remember that I am safe in Your hands.

Teach me to walk boldly in faith, trusting in Your promises.

May Your love guide me, strengthen me, and give me peace today.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

✨ Reflection Question:

What fear are you carrying today that you can release into God’s perfect love?
